What is a root canal?
A root canal is one of the most common dental procedures performed, well over 14 million every year. This simple treatment can save your natural teeth and prevent the need of dental implants or bridges.
At the center of your tooth is pulp. Pulp is a collection of blood vessels that helps to build the surrounding tooth. Infection of the pulp can be caused by trauma to the tooth, deep decay, cracks and chips, or repeated dental procedures. Symptoms of the infection can be identified as visible injury or swelling of the tooth, sensitivity to temperature or pain in the tooth and gums.
If you experience any of these symptoms, your dentist will most likely recommend non-surgical treatment to eliminate the diseased pulp. This injured pulp is removed and the root canal system is thoroughly cleaned and sealed. This therapy usually involves local anesthesia and may be completed in one or more visits depending on the treatment required. Success for this type of treatment occurs in about 90% of cases. If your tooth is not amenable to endodontic treatment or the chance of success is unfavorable, you will be informed at the time of consultation or when a complication becomes evident during or after treatment. We use local anesthesia to eliminate discomfort. You will be able to drive home after your treatment, and you probably will be comfortable returning to your normal routine.

To provide you with a better understanding of endodontic therapy, we have provided the following multimedia presentation. Many common questions pertaining to root canals are discussed.
What happens after root canal treatment?
When your root canal therapy has been completed, a record of your treatment will be sent to your restorative dentist. You should contact their office for a follow-up restoration within a few weeks of completion at our office. Your restorative dentist will decide on what type of restoration is necessary to protect your tooth. It is rare for endodontic patients to experience complications after routine endodontic treatment or microsurgery. If a problem does occur, however, we are available at all times to respond. To prevent further decay, continue to practice good dental hygiene.
How much will a root canal cost?
The cost associated with this procedure can vary depending on factors such as the severity of damage to the affected tooth and which tooth is affected. In general, endodontic treatment is much less expensive than tooth removal and replacement with an artificial tooth.
Patient Reviews for Root Canal
Clear Creek Endodontics
I had a referral from my Dentist to evaluate the teeth next to a crown that I had lost due to cracking of the root. The root was extracted and I needed to see the condition of the teeth to support a bridge. During my examination Dr. Newcomb found that I neede a root canal in one of the adjacent tooth and could perform the procedure right away. The root canal was painless including the deadeding shots. I was impressed with Dr. Necomb and the rest of the staff at Clear Creek. I was a most enjoyably experience considering I had a Root canal. I also enjoyed Dr. Newcomb's stories he told during the procedure.

I had an excellent experience with Clear Creek Endodontics. I came in with a fissure on my gum and they were very helpful in laying out the options available to me for treatment. We agreed on a plan and were able to schedule a visit within a week. The treatment went very smoothly and I'm happily in recovery as we speak. I highly recommend this office!

While a root canal may not be at the top of anyone's list of "things to do", mine was easy and pain free. Wonderful doctor and staff. Thanks to all!

I have been absolutely happy with the work that was done at Clear Creek Endodontics. I am the sort of person who is very nervous to go to the dentist and both the dentist and staff did a great job of making sure I was comfortable throughout the entire procedure for two Root Canals. I was very appreciative that the dentist performed the vast majority of the work himself, I have been to other dentists where the dentist does little more than the Novocain shot then leaves the work to the hygienist. I have been to many dentists and must say this was the best experience, I will be recommending Clear Creek Endodontics to anyone needing this type of work.

Everyone was courteous, friendly, efficient & knowledgable. During the procedure I had the feeling that the doc & his assistant did some verbal bantering to keep my mind off the procedure. Even though I wear hearing aids which made their conversation difficult to follow, I was distracted. My only complaint...if you can call it that...is the video they were showing during the procedure. I would prefer a comedy but I guess that could really interfere with the procedure!

I would like to thank you for all that you did for me this past June 20th. Most of my experiences with dental work have not been pleasant so I have never been very excited about having any dental work done. From the time I walked into your office and until I left I was very pleased with the entire experience. Your office personnel as well as the medical personnel went above and beyond to make me feel comfortable.

Dr. Stratton & his assistant made me very comfortable. As comfortable as anyone can be with their mouth open two hours! I've had many root canals but hearing I need another is never good news. They told me exactly what to do to prevent pain after the procedure and it was right on. I'm very glad I was referred to them for this work and would definitely refer a friend to them.
